Thanks for volunteering to judge the fair. The fair post will go up some time between Sunday and Monday night.

You do not need to do anything until Wednesday night. If you would like to help, mingling/drawing attention to the fair are both likely to be helpful :).

On Wednesday at 9pm GMT/5pm EST the competitions officially close (though feel free to browse entries in your category beforehand if you desire). If you can get your scores to me in the 24 hours after that that will be fantastic, then I can post them all up on Friday. I can't imagine the number of entries will be huge so it shouldn't take you that long.

How to score

1. I have deliberately tried to pick muns for categories they won't be entering. However if you would particularly like one of your pups to join in your category, they can enter under the following conditions:
- The pup who is judging cannot enter
- You cannot score your own pup. It will be other judge + d10.
- Judges' pups will not be allowed to win a top prize regardless of what the d10 says, and loses in the event of a tie.
I will be posting some of my pups as examples under the same restrictions.

Feel free to enter a category you aren't judging the same as anyone else.

2. You need to give each entry a score out of ten. How you decide this score is up to you. In real life horticultural shows you generally have points for presentation, difficulty, quality etc. I suggest going through all the entries before you finalise your scores as you will probably find yourself scoring them relative to each other.

Remember that your pup is not supposed to know whose entry is whose.

3. When you have done all your scores PM them to me. Do not post them on the fair page. I will add them to my scores first. If it is very close I will do a third scoring round with the d10. Then I will post the scores for the categories once they are all in. This is to stop any arguments about favouritism etc.

4. If you want to leave an optional "Judges' comment" about an entry, send this in to me with your scores. Example from one of my show entries from RL - 'Lovely idea for your quilt. Perhaps needed better contrast thread for the wording. But good try, well done!'

These tend to be used for circumstances where you wanted an entry to get a prize but they aren't quite good enough.

Similarly if someone has done something cool/amusing and you would like that to be recognised, flag it up to me. I have gathered a collection of trophies that can be assigned to different things depending on what people do.

If you are unable to submit your scores before Thursday evening, I will try and get in touch with you as best as possible. If I don't have the scores by prize time, I will be substituting the d10 for your pup, sorry!

If nobody enters your category, thank you very much nonetheless for volunteering.

The most important thing is that everyone has fun, so please get in touch if you have any trouble with anything. I am a veteran show-enterer in real life so let me know if you have any queries of how it works.

Example of an entry below.
