Power tools may not be used unsupervised without prior completion of the Power Tools Badge.
If you are building the Scout Hut please use the first set of clauses. If you are building something else, please use the second set. The badge is the same either way.
Scout Hut
1. Contribute to building the Scout Hut or its adjacent playground. Contributing can be any of the following: - Helping construct or raise the walls, floor or roof - Varnishing the building - Small features e.g. helping fit the door. - Plumbing/wiring (you must liaise with Bonnie before attempting this) - Laying carpet - Any other suitable activity.
Other Building
You must not build permanent or significant structures in Milliways without first getting permission from the Barman. If you do not have permission to build a building you may build a bivouac, but you must dismantle it when you are finished.
1. Design on paper or by model the building you wish to construct. Identify what materials are needed and the cost. Your building must meet the following criteria: - It must be big enough for you to get inside. - It should be strong enough to support its own weight. - It should be sufficiently water resistant that you could sleep in it when it rains. If you are in any doubt as to whether your structure is safe please discuss it with a qualified adult.
2. Using appropriate tools, prepare your building materials. If you are under ten, you may have a grown up help you cut your materials.
3. Construct your building or structure and show it to a leader.
4. Spend a night camping out in your structure. If you are under 10, you do not have to complete this clause.
